The zoom-and-pan feature allows you to easily zoom in or pan to a different area of the screen in a smooth way. The new zoom-and-pan feature in Camtasia is, without argument, the most exciting feature in Camtasia. But lately I've been using both of these tools and have been particularly impressed by Camtasia's zoom-and-pan feature. Here are three of the videos that were created:ģ.The two leading screencast tools, Camtasia and Captivate, both have strengths and weaknesses that make selecting a clear winner difficult if not impossible. This was not an option for the current project as there was no budget to purchase it to use in collaboration. In the future, Camtasia would be considered again, however, if a licence was available, VideoScribe would also be to add to some of the elements. Some amount of knowledge and skill is needed to be able to use it. Many of the graphics were redesigned and rebuilt. This innovation took roughly 20 hours per video, including the building of the story boards, scripts and custom images, audio recording, editing and timing. Students are also provided with transcripts and referred to further examples to help develop their understanding. Each video is approximately 7 minutes, allowing students to continuously go back and review sections if needed. Statistics can be complex to learn, but the advantage of having these videos is that they help break down key concepts, putting them into bite-size chunks of information and visualise these concepts with examples and video. It also has the ability to incorporate multiple types of elements such as images and videos, allows you to animate things on the screen and can be published as mp4. It was chosen over other tools, such as iMovie and Adobe Presenter, due to ease of use and it allows more control over editing (can do screen recordings, webcam recordings, etc.) and timing, enabling flexibility over the design. The videos were shown in class to ensure all students watched them, but could also be accessed outside of class to allow students to revisit them at later points in the program.
